Job summary

Practice Plus Group Shepton Mallet is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist for a 22-hour per week employed contract to deliver high-quality anaesthetic care across elective pathways. You'll join a skilled multidisciplinary team, provide general and regional anaesthesia, participate in governance, education and audit, and contribute to safe patient outcomes in a modern elective surgical hospital.

Responsibilities

• Deliver general and regional anaesthesia across elective surgical services.
• Support Orthopaedics, General Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology procedures.
• Participate in pre-assessment clinics and patient optimisation.
• Take part in the consultant on-call rota.
• Provide specialist advice and support to colleagues and Resident Medical Officers.
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical records.
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participating in departmental, governance and MDT meetings.
• Supporting service development and pathway enhancements.
• Teaching and mentoring junior doctors, anaesthetic practitioners and other healthcare professionals.

About The Role

Are you a skilled Consultant Anaesthetist looking for a flexible role that offers the opportunity to deliver outstanding patient care while maintaining a healthy work-life balance? We are seeking a dedicated clinician to join our multidisciplinary team at Practice Plus Group Hospital Shepton Mallet on a 22-hour per week employed contract.

Working within our modern elective surgical hospital, you'll support a range of specialties including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology, delivering high-quality anaesthetic care and helping us achieve exceptional outcomes for every patient.

As our Consultant Anaesthetist, you'll provide a broad range of general and regional anaesthetic services across our elective surgical pathways. Working closely with surgeons, theatre teams and multidisciplinary colleagues, you'll play a key role in ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Alongside your clinical duties, you'll contribute to governance activities, service development, education and audit programmes, helping us continuously improve the care we provide. Participation in the consultant on-call rota will also be required.

What you'll be doing

• Delivering general and regional anaesthesia across elective surgical services.
