Job summary

East Surrey College in Redhill, Surrey, is seeking a Construction Technician to join the new Construction department. The role involves supporting students in practical workshops, supervising facilities, and ensuring health and safety compliance.

The successful candidate will have a Level 2 vocational qualification in Brickwork, Carpentry or Plumbing, experience in at least two of these trades, and a proactive approach. Full First Aid qualification or willingness to obtain it is required.

Qualifications

• Level 2 vocational qualification in Brickwork, Carpentry or Plumbing.
• Knowledge/industry experience of working within at least two of: Brickwork, Carpentry, Plumbing.
• Experience of working with young people.
• Full First Aid Qualification (or willing to obtain).
• A pro-active approach and be able to work on their own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Supporting students in their learning of practical skills in the workshops.
• Supervising and maintaining workshops ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
• Ordering stock, maintaining a stock of consumables, and preparing materials for student activities.
• Cleaning and maintaining the equipment.
