Allianz UK in London is seeking a Construction Underwriter to drive profitable growth across new and existing construction business. The role focuses on pricing risk, building broker relationships, and collaborating with Claims, Operations and Risk teams in a hybrid London office.

You will underwrite new and renewal construction risks, manage extensions for retention, and help shape regional underwriting strategy while representing Allianz with brokers and clients.

Qualifications

• Proven construction underwriting experience including casualty/liability covers.
• Strong ability to underwrite new and renewal business.
• Confident communicator with brokers and negotiating outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business construction risks to meet growth and profitability targets.
• Manage extensions, ensuring retention and positive customer outcomes.
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities within the market.
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the expert-led Allianz Commercial team as a Construction Underwriter, playing a key role in delivering profitable growth across both new and existing business.

The candidate will support the development of a world-class, multi-niche Insurance & Engineering offering, contributing to ambitious regional growth targets.

Location: This role is based in the London office, with a hybrid working arrangement requiring attendance at least 2 days per week.

Salary Information

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is one component of the total reward package.

About the Role

• Underwrite new business construction risks to meet growth and profitability targets
