Job summary

Allianz UK invites an experienced Commercial Combined Senior Underwriter to lead complex deals from our Maidstone office. You will drive underwriting decisions, strengthen broker partnerships, and shape our growth in the commercial space.

In this role you’ll mentor newer underwriters, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to regional plans while enjoying hybrid working with 2–3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Commercial Combined, Property, Casualty or Liability underwriting.
• Ability to coach, develop and support colleagues and act as a technical referral point.
• Proven experience owning and managing broker relationships, including large/complex cases.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite business across Commercial Combined risks in line with appetite and authority.
• Develop trusted broker partnerships to unlock opportunities and grow market presence.
• Analyse risk exposures, terms and pricing using data and underwriting tools.
• Contribute to regional business plans and growth strategies.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and internal governance standards.
• Serve as a senior referral point and mentor for junior underwriters.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Maidstone office, with an expectation to attend the office 2-3 days per week.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £55,000 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

As our Commercial Combined Senior Underwriter, you’ll:

• Underwrite business across Commercial Combined risks in line with Allianz underwriting appetite and authority levels
• Develop trusted partnerships with brokers, leveraging collaboration to unlock new opportunities and strengthen market presence.
• Analyse risk exposures, terms, and pricing using data and underwriting tools
• Contribute to regional business plans and growth strategies
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal governance standards
• Act as a senior referral point and mentor for less experienced underwriters where appropriate

Essential skills

• Extensive experience in Commercial Combined, Property, Casualty or Liability underwriting, with the capability to manage complex and high‑value risks
• The confidence and capability to coach, develop and support colleagues, acting as a technical referral point within the team
• Proven experience in owning and managing key broker relationships, including large and complex case management
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships and work collaboratively across the business
