Job summary

Winner Recruitment Ltd is seeking a motivated Construction Tutor to deliver practical bricklaying, construction skills and Design Technology in a specialist SEMH school in Dudley. You will engage pupils with hands-on learning, build confidence and teach essential life skills through structured, practical activities.

The ideal candidate has experience in construction trades and vocational teaching, with a patient, resilient approach and strong behaviour management to support learners with SEMH

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, bricklaying or related trades.
• Experience delivering practical or vocational training.
• Ability to engage and motivate young people in SEMH settings.
• Understanding of SEMH needs and supportive teaching approaches.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver practical construction and vocational lessons in SEMH settings.
• Teach introductory bricklaying skills and basic construction techniques.
• Deliver Design Technology projects that encourage creativity and problem-solving.
• Develop pupils’ knowledge of tools, materials and workplace practices.
• Introduce pupils to vocational pathways and future careers in construction.
• Create hands-on learning experiences developing employability and transferable skills.
• Adapt lessons to meet individual needs, abilities and learning styles.
• Build positive relationships with pupils to promote engagement and motivation.
• Maintain a safe and stimulating workshop environment.
• Ensure safe use of tools and machinery following health and safety procedures.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
