Job summary

Equal Teaching in Wales is seeking a skilled tradesperson or experienced FE tutor to deliver practical and theory lessons in construction trades such as Painting & Decorating, Plumbing, Electrical Installation or Plastering & Tiling. You will assess learner work and help them prepare for trade tests and exams.

Role requires Level 3 trades, hands-on experience, and a teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).

Qualifications

• Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant trade.
• Recent hands-on industry experience at a skilled/craft level.
• GCSE/Level 2 English & Maths, or willingness to achieve this.
• A teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/Cert Ed), or willingness to work towards one.
• Enhanced DBS check (required for the role).
• Nice to have: Assessor award (TAQA/A1), previous teaching or mentoring experience, additional trade qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Deliver practical and theory sessions in your trade specialism(s).
• Assess learner work and prepare them for trade tests and exams.
• Maintain safe, well-organised workshops in line with industry regulations.
• Support learner progress, attendance and wellbeing as a personal tutor.
• Keep course content current with industry standards and awarding body requirements (e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, EAL).
