Job summary

GSL Education Hull Branch is seeking a Construction Teacher to deliver practical construction lessons in a Hull educational setting. You will work with students to develop technical skills and employability, bringing real industry knowledge into the classroom.

This role requires a recognised teaching qualification (QTS) or substantial construction experience with a willingness to teach. You must pass safeguarding checks, hold an Enhanced DBS (or apply for one) and demonstrate strong classroom

Qualifications

• Recognised teaching qualification/QTS and industry experience in construction.
• Experience with safeguarding and child protection checks.
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, practical Construction lessons that develop students’ technical knowledge and employability skills.
• Provide clear demonstrations and guidance on construction techniques, tools, equipment, and safe working practices.
• Adapt teaching and practical activities to meet different abilities, learning needs, and levels of experience.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety during practical sessions and ensure students follow appropriate procedures.
• Monitor students’ progress, assess practical and theoretical work, and provide constructive feedback.
• Build positive relationships with students while encouraging confidence, professionalism, independence, and good work habits.

Job Title: Construction Teacher
Location: Hull
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £174.70 to £270.94 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you an experienced Construction Teacher or industry professional with a passion for helping young people develop practical skills and prepare for their future careers? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting a dedicated Construction Teacher to work in an educational setting in Hull.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong practical construction knowledge who can deliver engaging, hands-on learning and inspire students to develop both technical skills and confidence. The role would suit a qualified teacher or an experienced construction professional with a genuine interest in education.

Main Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging, practical Construction lessons that develop students’ technical knowledge and employability skills.
• Provide clear demonstrations and guidance across relevant construction techniques, tools, equipment, and safe working practices.
• Adapt teaching and practical activities to meet different abilities, learning needs, and levels of experience.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety during practical sessions and ensure students follow appropriate procedures.
• Monitor students’ progress, assess practical and theoretical work, and provide constructive feedback.
• Build positive relationships with students while encouraging confidence, professionalism, independence, and good work habits.
• Recognised teaching qualification/QTS and relevant experience within the Construction industry with a willingness to teach.
• Strong practical knowledge and industry experience within a relevant construction trade or subject area.
• Experience working with young people in an educational, training, apprenticeship, or mentoring environment is desirable.
• Ability to deliver engaging practical lessons and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Strong classroom management, communication, organisation, and health and safety awareness.
• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
