Job summary

AJ Chambers are pleased to be working with a top law firm who are currently recruiting for a Construction Solicitor to join their growing legal team.

The role focuses on day-to-day management of construction files, advising on contracts, drafting statements, and TCC filings, with direct client liaison. The candidate will handle adjudications, meet tight deadlines, and contribute to seminars and publications, with a hybrid working pattern after probation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years post-qualification in contentious construction.
• Strong academic background with at least a 2:1.
• Solid understanding of the Housing Grants, Construction & Regeneration Act 1996 and the Scheme for Construction Contracts.
• Proactive and able to work independently, escalating issues as appropriate.
• Experience of adjudications.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines within a large workload.
• Strong inter-personal skills within a team and when working independently.
• Excellent attention to detail in producing high-standard work/documents.
• Hybrid working after probation.
• Three days in the office and two days working from home.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day running of files with appropriate supervision.
• Advising on all aspects of construction contracts (payments, extensions of time, loss and expense, defects).
• Drafting witness statements, briefs to counsel, letters of instruction to experts and letters of claim.
• Filing in the Technology & Construction Court (TCC).
• Liaising directly with clients.
• Organising and maintaining tidy and accurate files.
• Participating in seminars and contributing to the department’s publications.
• Complying with department procedures, Solicitors’ accounts rules and firm policies.
