Job description

About the role

SZC is owned by two shareholders, EDF and HMG, who hold their investment through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholdings will change over time. The shareholders will fund SZC until Financial Close through equity, following the approved schedule and budget. SZC's main business involves designing, financing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and eventually decommissioning the Sizewell C nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. The current development phase focuses on completing the Capital Raise Plan, including equity and debt raises, securing core supply chain contracts, and obtaining necessary permits and licenses.

Previously, SZC operated as part of EDF in the Nuclear Development business unit, staffed by EDF colleagues and contractors now transitioning to direct employment. SZC aims to deliver a new nuclear power plant, from investment and funding to construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning. The project’s technical and commercial basis is modeled on Hinkley Point C, with EDF as a key nuclear capability supplier from its UK footprint.

What you'll be doing

The role is for an Onsite Construction Manager. The SZC project delivery is divided into five programmes: Site enabling and off-site infrastructure, Civils, Mechanical and Electrical, Equipment, and Commissioning. This position will be within the Civils Alliance of Laing O'Rourke, Bouygues, and Balfour Beatty.

The candidate should demonstrate thought leadership, develop team capabilities, and align work with SZC's strategic goals. The Construction Manager will be based at the Sizewell C Project Office, overseeing onsite management, coordination, and delivery activities. Key responsibilities include managing logistics, materials, and labor, developing logistics strategies, forecasting materials and transport, coordinating site utilities, supporting site setup, managing supply chain and information flows, and ensuring health, safety, and sustainability standards.
