Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Construction Lecturer to cover Brick Laying, Electrical installations, Carpentry and Plumbing / Multiskills in Birmingham. This temporary role involves 24 hours of contact time with students, starting ASAP. The position offers market-rate pay (£30-40/hour) and ongoing support from a dedicated team.

Colleges in the Birmingham area seek experienced engineering staff to lead Level 1–3 teaching, with DBS and industry credentials. Training and CPD are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English or equivalent.
• DBS clearance and update service.
• Great industry experience and knowledge.
• TAQA, A1 or V1 assessor/verification qualification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach Construction courses to apprentices and students at levels 1–3.
• Deliver high-standard apprenticeship programs and assess learners.
• Contribute to development of construction curricula and student progression.

We are looking for an individual who has the passion and ability to impart their experience, skills, and knowledge to a caseload of engineering apprentices and students

The successful candidate will have:

• Relevant Construction Qualifications (Degree, Level 3 other recognise quals)
• DBS (and on update service)
• Great industry experience and knowledge (Crucial)
• CAVA Level 3 Assessor Qualification
• Knowledge of the Apprenticeship Standards and E-portfolio system (Smart Assessor) is beneficial.
• Ideally hold or be prepared to work towards an Assessor and Verification award, e.g., TAQA, A1 or V1.
• A minimum of Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English or equivalent.
