Job summary

AJ FOX COMPLIANCE partners with a world-leading global law firm in London to hire a Conflicts Advisor who will manage global conflict checks and ensure client and matter opportunities align with international risk procedures.

You will review opportunities, advise partners on conflicts and information barriers, and assess broader risk including reputational, sanctions and financial crime issues. A law degree or LPC and 1+ year in compliance are required.

Qualifications

• Qualified with a law degree or LPC.
• At least 1 year of experience in a professional services compliance environment.
• Strong understanding of conflicts of interest, especially US conflicts.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to navigate regulatory change.

Responsibilities

• Manage global conflict checks on every new matter to identify conflicts of interest.
• Review prospective client/matter opportunities and advise partners on conflicts and information barriers.
• Evaluate risk profiles through matter risk assessments focusing on reputational, sanctions and financial crime issues.
• Advise partners and lawyers globally on conflict results and compliance policies.
• Collaborate with the internal Financial Crime team to align matter risk.
• Coordinate with international offices for smooth daily handovers.
• Assist in designing and improving conflicts technology and risk management projects.
• Contribute to a high-performing global compliance function.

We are working with a world-leading global law firm to hire a Conflicts Advisor in London. In this role, you will hold global responsibility for managing complex conflict checks and ensuring all new client and matter opportunities align with the firm's international risk management procedures.

The firm is looking for a professional with a law degree or LPC and at least a year of experience within a professional services compliance environment, combined with a strong understanding of conflicts of interest (especially US conflicts) and confidential information regimes. They are looking for candidates with strong research and analytical skills and the commercial awareness required to tackle complexity and navigate regulatory change.

The responsibilities will include:

• Managing global conflict checks on every new matter to identify and resolve both legal and commercial conflicts of interest.
• Reviewing prospective client and matter opportunities by analysing internal and external data to advise partners on conflict and information barrier management.
• Evaluating wider risk profiles through comprehensive matter risk assessments, specifically identifying reputational, sanctions, and financial crime issues.
• Advising partners and lawyers globally on conflict check results, internal risk processes, and compliance policies.
• Liaising closely with the internal Financial Crime team to ensure seamless matter risk alignment.
• Collaborating with international offices to guarantee smooth daily operational handovers.
• Influencing the design and optimisation of the firm's conflicts technology and risk management projects.
• Contributing actively to a mutually supportive, high-performing global compliance function.
