Job summary

Forterra Building Products Ltd is seeking a motivated Concrete Operative to join the Hoveringham team. You will support the production team, operate production processes and help meet quality, productivity and safety targets.

The role involves learning and applying key processes, carrying out quality control inspections, and potentially taking on sub-roles such as batching, forklift operation or crane driving as trained. A proactive, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 or equivalent desirable.
• Awareness of Health and Safety legislation (IOSH Working Safely).
• Good communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain health and safety standards for self and others at work.
• Ensure work meets quality, efficiency and safety requirements.
• Operate machinery/plant as trained.
• Read drawings for production requirements.
• Carry out self and neighbour quality inspections.
• Float concrete and support production processes.
• Potentially take on sub-roles (trained): FLT driver, batching operator, steel fixer, crane driver, plasma cutter, general labourer, loading shovel driver, remedial work on defective product.

Job description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Hoveringham team in the position of Concrete Operative.

This position will provide support within the production team and operate production processes to ensure all quality, productivity and health and safety targets are met.

The role holder will play an active part in the design and delivery of key processes and fulfilling the strategic objectives of the Production area.

Your duties would include but not limited to the following;

• Maintain standards of health and safety for self and others whilst at work.
• Ensure all work is carried out to the requirements of quality, efficiency and health and safety.
• Ability to operate machinery/plant where training is provided.
• Ability to read drawings.
• Able to carry out self and neighbour quality control inspections.
• Able to float concrete
• Possible sub-roles (when trained) within the scope to include but not be restricted to:
• FLT driver
• Batching Operator
• Steel fixer
• Crane driver
• Plasma cutter
• General labourer
• Loading shovel driver
• Carry out remedials on defective product

About You;

• Educated to NVQ2 or equivalent (desirable).
• To have an awareness of Health and Safety legislation (IOSH Working Safely).
• To have good effective communication skills.
• Good problem solving skills.
• The initiative to work without supervision or as part of a team.
• To have had similar role/experience.
