Job summary

AG in Toome is hiring a Production Operative (Day Shift) Grade 1. You will inspect paving products for defects, strap and wrap bricks, and operate forklifts on the production line.

You’ll work a 40-hour week, Mon-Thu 6:00am–4:00pm, enjoying a 3-day weekend and a benefits package including enhanced annual leave, health care, pension, life assurance, and a birthday half-day.

Responsibilities

• Inspect brick and paving products on the production line for defects; document issues.
• Securely strap and wrap bricks and paving products for safe storage and transport.
• Daily cleaning and maintenance of production areas and equipment.
• Clean mixers and machines daily, remove debris, and maintain equipment functionality.
• Operate forklifts (with valid license) as required.
• Operate the KBH machine per procedures; report issues promptly.
• Adhere to health and safety protocols and suggest improvements.
• Proactively suggest ideas for health, safety, or cost-saving improvements.
• Any other duties as required by management within capability.

Hours: 40hrs per week (Monday to Thursday 6.00am - 4.00pm)

Reports to: Maintenance and Masa Supervisor

What you'll be doing:

Inspect paving products for cracks, chips, and colour consistency

Strap and wrap bales securely for safe storage and transport

Keep production areas clean and equipment maintained daily

Operate machinery on the FC and grinding lines

Drive forklifts (with a valid license)

Follow health & safety protocols and suggest improvements

About the role

KEY RESONSIBILITIES

• Inspectbrick andpavingproductson the production line for defects like cracks, chips, or colour inconsistencies. Follow company procedures to document and report any issues promptly.
• Securely strap and wrapbalesofbrick andpaving products to ensure stability during storage and transportation, following safety guidelines and quality standards to prevent damage or movement of goods.
• Daily cleaning and maintenance.
• Perform thorough daily cleaning and housekeeping of production areas, including sweeping floors, removing debris, and ensuring equipment and workspaces are tidy and free from hazards.
• Cleanmixersand machinesdaily by removing raw materials, clearing dust and debris, and wiping surfaces tomaintainequipment functionality and quality standards. Inspect components and follow all safety procedures during the cleaning process.
• Operate forklifts asrequired, provided theappropriatelicenseis held.
• Operate the KBH machine according to company procedures, ensuring efficient and safe production of brick and paving products. Monitor machineperformance andpromptly report any mechanical issues or irregularities to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
• Ensure that workplace cleanliness ismaintainedandadherestrictly to all health and safety protocols. Take personal responsibility for your own well-being and promptly report any concerns as required by company policy.
• Proactivelyseekand suggest ideas for improvement—whether related to health and safety, business processes, or cost-saving measures—and report them as a‘Good Catch’.
• Any other duties as required by management that are within your capability.
