Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a dedicated Computer Science Tutor to support learners across Wokingham and surrounding areas. This in-person role focuses on building confidence, improving engagement and understanding of CS concepts for secondary students, including those with SEND/SEMH needs.

You will deliver personalised lessons, assess progress and adapt activities to meet individual goals, while maintaining safeguarding and open communication with families and schools.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Computer Science to secondary-aged learners.
  • Good understanding of the relevant Computer Science curriculum.
  • Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning.
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering one-to-one Computer Science tuition to secondary-aged learners.
  • Plan engaging, accessible and appropriately challenging learning activities.
  • Adapt teaching to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement.
  • Support learners with programming, computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Develop learners' understanding of key Computer Science concepts.
  • Support learners with GCSE Computer Science content where appropriate.
  • Help learners develop digital skills and confidence in using technology.
  • Monitor progress and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with learners.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.

Computer Science Tutor - Wokingham

Location: Wokingham and surrounding areas
Phase: Secondary / SEND / SEMH
Working Arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, reliable and experienced Computer Science Tutor to work with children and young people across Wokingham and the surrounding areas. This is an in-person tutoring opportunity and is not an online role.

The role involves providing personalised Computer Science support to learners who may benefit from additional help with their learning, confidence and engagement. You will be expected to build positive relationships with learners and adapt your teaching approach to meet their individual abilities, needs and educational goals.

The successful tutor will be able to deliver engaging and accessible Computer Science lessons while providing a patient, flexible and encouraging approach to learning. Experience working with learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs, particularly those accessing Alternative Provision or EOTAS, would be particularly beneficial.

The Role May Involve
  • Delivering one-to-one Computer Science tuition to secondary-aged learners
  • Supporting learners with Computer Science topics appropriate to their age, ability and educational level

  • Helping learners develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback

  • Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
  • Maintaining clear and professional communication
  • Following safeguarding procedures at all times
Essential Requirements
  • Experience teaching or tutoring Computer Science to secondary-aged children or young people
  • A good understanding of the relevant Computer Science curriculum
  • Experience working with learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable
  • Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable
  • The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
  • Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
  • A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
  • The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
  • A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check, where required
  • Satisfactory professional references
  • You must have the right to work in the UK
