Job description

An opportunity has arisen for a skilled or semi-skilled CNC Miller to join a busy manufacturing workshop producing small- to medium-batch components for a diverse customer base. This role would suit an individual who enjoys hands-on machining, working to tight tolerances, and contributing to high-quality precision manufacturing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines; preparing tooling; loading materials; and ensuring components are produced accurately to drawing specifications. It is also scoped to support the development of new programs from customer drawings and files, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Programming CNC milling machines (training provided)
• Set and operate CNC milling machines to run existing production work
• Prepare tooling and load raw materials efficiently and safely
• Inspect and measure components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and tolerances
• Carry out visual and dimensional inspection using appropriate measuring equipment
• Assist with program development and modifications where required
• Identify and resolve machining issues to minimise downtime and scrap
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop
• Work accurately to deadlines while maintaining quality standards

The Candidate

• A form of programming experience
• Heidenhain or Fanuc controls experience
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of CNC machine operation and basic machine code
• Experience modifying offsets or programs where required
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills
• Reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic team player

The Salary
