We are seeking an experienced CNC Miller to join our precision engineering team. This role involves setting, operating and, where appropriate, programming CNC milling machines to manufacture high-quality precision components for a diverse range of industries.
Working within a fast-paced subcontract machining environment, you will be responsible for producing both one-off and batch components to exact customer specifications. You will play a key role in ensuring parts are manufactured accurately, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate and, where required, programme CNC milling machines.
- Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings to tight tolerances.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, workholding and machine set-ups for each job.
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Produce components in a range of materials including aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel, brass and engineering plastics.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure equipment is kept clean and serviceable.
- Identify tooling, machine or quality issues and report them promptly.
- Complete production and quality documentation accurately.
- Work to production schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment in accordance with company health and safety procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and productivity.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling and cutting parameters.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges and dial indicators.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
