Elix Sourcing Solutions in the Exeter area is seeking a Composite Team Lead to manage a team of engineers and technicians, plan daily testing workloads, and ensure high-quality data and client reporting.

You will oversee scheduling across static, fatigue, and thermal analysis equipment, provide technical leadership for non-metallic and composite testing, and ensure compliance with international standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree in Materials Science, Aerospace, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience in non-metallic or composite materials testing, preferably hands-on composite structures.
• Proven leadership or team-leading experience in technical testing or manufacturing.
• Strong organizational skills to manage workloads and changing priorities.

Responsabilités

• Provide full line management and operational leadership for a team of testing technicians and engineers.
• Own scheduling and delivery of advanced non-metallic and composite testing projects.
• Act as the technical authority for complex composite testing, failure analysis, and compliance with ISO/ASTM standards.
• Ensure accurate test data collection and client reporting.

• Salary & Benefits: £40,000 - £55,000 Base Salary + Healthcare Package + Life Assurance + 21 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays
• Days & Hours: Monday to Friday (Days)
• Location: Exeter area (Commutable from Exeter, Honiton, Taunton, Sidmouth, Tiverton, Exmouth)

You will lead, mentor, and organize a dedicated team of engineers and technicians within a fast‑paced laboratory environment. Balancing people management with operational delivery, you will plan, schedule, and allocate daily testing workloads across static, fatigue, and thermal analysis equipment. You will act as the key technical focal point, supporting the team with complex non‑metallic and composite testing, ensuring full compliance with international standards (BS EN ISO, ASTM), and overseeing accuracy in test data collection and client reporting.

Requirements

• Degree qualified (minimum) in Materials Science, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent hands‑on industrial testing background).
• Proven background in non‑metallic or composite materials testing (strong preference for hands‑on composite structures experience).
• Demonstrable leadership, supervisory, or team‑leading experience within a technical testing or manufacturing environment (deputising experience considered).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage workloads, handle changing operational priorities, and drive high technical standards.
