Job summary

Williams F1 Team is seeking a skilled Composite Trimmer/Fitter to trim and assemble carbon fibre parts and bond components to exacting standards. You will work within a fast-paced composites team, ensuring measurements align with engineering drawings and repair procedures.

The role requires strong attention to detail, good communication, and a commitment to 5S/LEAN practices. Training will emphasize customer-focused quality and on-time delivery in a high-performance environment.

Qualifications

  • Trim composite materials with hand and power tools to tight tolerances.

  • Carry out composite repairs and void filling as required.
  • Perform self-inspection against drawings and process requirements.
  • Maintain 5S and LEAN standards and ensure safe, clean workspace.
  • Capture data accurately to support regulatory/compliance.
  • Collaborate with the composites team to optimise workflow and meet targets.

Job description

As a Composite Trimmer / Fitter , you will play a critical role in the manufacture of high-quality carbon fibre components. You will be responsible for the precise trimming, fitting and bonding of composite parts, ensuring all work meets exacting engineering, quality and performance standards. This role operates in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment where accuracy, collaboration and continuous improvement are essential.,

  • Trim composite materials using specialised hand and power tools, working to tight tolerances defined by engineering drawings.
  • Fit composite components for bonded assemblies, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
  • Bond and assemble composite components in line with approved procedures and quality standards.
  • Carry out composite repairs, including filling voids and repairing damage using appropriate repair techniques.
  • Conduct self-inspection of completed parts to ensure full compliance with engineering drawings and process requirements.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the composites team and wider departments to optimise workflow, meet production targets and continually improve component quality.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment, strictly following 5S and LEAN principles.
  • Accurately complete all required data capture to ensure regulatory and procedural compliance.
  • This role operates on a weekend shift, Saturday to Monday, working 06:30 to 18:30, Work in line with company values and behaviours, encouraging the same standards in others.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety requirements at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of personal conduct and professionalism, acting as a positive ambassador for the department.
  • Uphold brand guidelines and maintain a high standard of departmental presentation.
  • Work to defined quality standards and proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to consistently follow and apply departmental quality standards.
  • Effective personal time management to ensure on-time delivery of work.
  • Strong team player, collaborating effectively within the composites department and across the wider business., Substantial experience in composite trimming and assembly ideally within Formula 1 .
  • Proven ability to trim composite components to precise dimensions and tight tolerances.
  • Full understanding of adhesive specifications and their properties.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of surface preparation methods for composite bonding.
  • Proficient in composite repair techniques.
