Responsibilities:
- Component design (proficiency in at least 1 CAD package expected)
- Follow automotive development process from concept to production
- Knowledge of design for manufacture, manufacturing processes, material selection, and process control technologies, machining techniques, and tolerance design
- Interpret CAE and CFD analysis data to assess impact on component design
- Develop FMEA and design verification test plans
- Analyze test data results and their impact on design
- Support component specifications for sign-off
- Prepare reports (verbal & written), providing recommendations and proposals
- Coordinate with and report to multiple functional groups within the organization
- Travel between sites and suppliers within the UK and internationally may be required
- Support client project discussions
- Demonstrate and promote AVL competencies and services within client teams
Your Profile:
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering or similar (min 2:1)
- Good understanding of vehicle/powertrain systems and component requirements (ICE, e-machines, hybrid systems, battery systems, etc.)
- Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, 8D Techniques
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
- Capable of working independently and in teams
- Driving license
- Willingness to travel
- Open-minded, flexible ‘can do’ attitude
- Motivated, passionate, and committed to excellence
Preferable:
- Experience in Battery, Fuel cell, or ICE Design & Development
- Masters or PhD in relevant subject area
- Member of professional institutes such as IET, IMechE
- Knowledge of CAD tools like Catia, NX or equivalents

Annual Remuneration: The salary range is £36,000 - £52,000, based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with UKVI requirements.
