Job description

Responsibilities:
  1. Component design (proficiency in at least 1 CAD package expected)
  2. Follow automotive development process from concept to production
  3. Knowledge of design for manufacture, manufacturing processes, material selection, and process control technologies, machining techniques, and tolerance design
  4. Interpret CAE and CFD analysis data to assess impact on component design
  5. Develop FMEA and design verification test plans
  6. Analyze test data results and their impact on design
  7. Support component specifications for sign-off
  8. Prepare reports (verbal & written), providing recommendations and proposals
  9. Coordinate with and report to multiple functional groups within the organization
  10. Travel between sites and suppliers within the UK and internationally may be required
  11. Support client project discussions
  12. Demonstrate and promote AVL competencies and services within client teams
Your Profile:
Essential:
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering or similar (min 2:1)
  • Good understanding of vehicle/powertrain systems and component requirements (ICE, e-machines, hybrid systems, battery systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, 8D Techniques
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Capable of working independently and in teams
  • Driving license
  • Willingness to travel
  • Open-minded, flexible ‘can do’ attitude
  • Motivated, passionate, and committed to excellence
Preferable:
  • Experience in Battery, Fuel cell, or ICE Design & Development
  • Masters or PhD in relevant subject area
  • Member of professional institutes such as IET, IMechE
  • Knowledge of CAD tools like Catia, NX or equivalents

Annual Remuneration: The salary range is £36,000 - £52,000, based on qualifications and experience, in accordance with UKVI requirements.
