A leading defense contractor in Wales is seeking a Compliance Auditor to conduct safety audits on explosive licensed environments. The role includes supporting workplace inspections, verifying internal checks, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Candidates should have audit experience and a background in industrial settings. Conduct compliance audits on all explosive licensed buildings and hazardous locations on site, including storage magazines, process buildings, range locations, chemical stores and blast mounds.
Support and advise area owners and/or union-appointed safety representatives during local workplace inspections.
Verify the accuracy of internal checks including Process Area Verification Audits and Building Condition Inspections.
Complete building condition reports and make recommendations.
Identify action owners and upload actions onto a recognised system.
Support and advise action closeout, working with business SMEs to agree solutions.
Support High Hazard Advisors with Explosive Regulation Audits.
Conduct stock checks on energetics or explosives articles and verify they do not exceed the explosive licence or Work Area Safety Conditions (WASC).
Work within the BAE Land UK High Hazard team. The team is multi-disciplinary, including Explosives safety experts, Human factors, chemical and process engineers, etc. The High Hazard team is a central function supporting the five main sites within Land UK and providing specialist advice for safe operations.
There are a number of significant projects at various stages of delivery. Projects include the design and build of new facilities to support customer demand, existing building and site refurbishments, and process improvement. The High Hazard team is responsible for the delivery of Explosives Licensing and the management of the Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH), as well as advising and supporting best practice for explosive safety management within the business.
