Remedy Education is recruiting a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for a specialist SEN school in Lewisham. The role requires experience supporting pupils with complex SEN, including ASD, PMLD and SLD, and comfort with personal care and non-verbal communication methods.

You will work with teachers and therapists to deliver tailored learning plans in a supportive, safe environment. The position is full-time in Lewisham, offering daily pay between £100 and £117.

Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting children/young people with complex SEN is essential.
• Experience with ASD, PMLD, SLD or severe learning difficulties is required.
• Must be confident providing personal care.
• Comfortable supporting non-verbal pupils with communication needs.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEN (ASD, PMLD, SLD).
• Support pupils with severe learning difficulties and additional communication needs.
• Assist with personal and intimate care, including toileting and changing.
• Support non-verbal pupils using PECS, Makaton and visual resources.
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
• Assist with sensory activities, adapted learning tasks and individual education plans.
• Encourage pupils' independence, communication and social development.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff for consistency.
• Maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
