Remedy Education is recruiting a strong Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Lewisham, South East London. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD, PMLD, SLD and other complex needs, working closely with teachers and therapists.

The role involves personal care, supporting non-verbal pupils, and using communication strategies such as PECS and Makaton. A proactive, resilient approach is essential for a rewarding environment.

Formación

• Experience supporting children with complex SEN is essential.
• Experience with ASD, PMLD, SLD.
• Must be confident providing personal care.
• Comfortable supporting non-verbal pupils and those with significant communication difficulties.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour and supporting emotional regulation.
• Patient, resilient, physically active and able to use initiative.
• MAPA or Team Teach training advantageous.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsabilidades

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with complex SEN, including ASD, PMLD and SLD.
• Support pupils with severe learning difficulties and additional communication needs.
• Assist with personal and intimate care, including toileting and changing where required.
• Support non-verbal pupils using communication strategies such as PECS, Makaton and visual resources.
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
• Assist with sensory activities, adapted learning tasks and individual education plans.
• Encourage pupils' independence, communication and social development.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff to provide consistent support.
• Maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
