Job summary

Justteachers Ltd is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision just outside Newark. The role starts in September and requires a driver with access to a vehicle. About the role:

Justteachers are working in partnership with a specialist provision located just outside Newark to recruit a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time position starting in September. Due to the rural location, candidates must be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle. This setting supports pupils with a range of complex special educational needs, including autism, severe learning difficulties and associated behavioural needs. This role is best suited to individuals with previous experience working within a specialist school setting, who are confident supporting pupils with complex needs and behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex SEN
• Support the delivery of tailored and highly differentiated learning activities
• Assist with the management of challenging behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
• Support pupils’ communication, social and emotional development
• Promote independence, engagement and routine
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff
• Assist with personal care where required
• Monitor and record pupil progress and behaviour

Pre-requisites:

• Previous experience working within a specialist SEN school is essential
• A confident, resilient and patient approach
• Strong understanding of supporting pupils with complex needs and behaviours
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essentialEnhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK
