Job summary

Remedy Education is recruiting a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant for schools in Newham, East London. You will support students with complex autism, delivering life skills using PECS and visual aids, and following EHCPs in a high-support setting.

The role is full-time, starting ASAP or September, with long-term potential and accessible transport plus on-site parking. Previous SEN experience and a patient, proactive approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with complex SEN needs, including autism.
• Ability to follow EHCPs and implement individual plans.
• Experience using PECS and visual aids to support learning.

Responsibilities

• Work 1:1 with students with severe to high-functioning autism.
• Assist in teaching life skills and daily living activities.
• Support students in the classroom alongside the lead teacher and other TAs.
• Follow individual EHCPs and liaise with SEND team.
• Utilise PECS/visual aids to aid learning and communication.
• Manage behaviours and provide personal care when needed.
• Create a calm, engaging learning environment tailored to each child.
• Support is full-time, with potential extension beyond the academic year.
