Job summary

TeacherActive seeks a Complex Needs Teacher to work in a Liverpool setting supporting pupils with Autism, MLD, SLCN, SEMH and other complex needs. The role focuses on holistic education combining academic work with therapy-led development.

You will deliver differentiated lessons, plan personalised learning, and collaborate with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and the wider team to promote independence and life skills in a nurturing, structured environment.

Qualifications

• QTS required or equivalent.
• Experience working with a range of SEND including ASC, MLD, SLCN, SEMH, and complex needs.
• Ability to design personalised learning approaches and bespoke curricula (e.g. EQUALS, SCERTS, structured teaching).

• Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across formal, semi-formal, and informal curriculum pathways.
• Plan personalised learning based on EHCP outcomes and ongoing assessment.
• Teach small groups and individual learners, promoting independence and functional skills.
• Work collaboratively with Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Specialists, and wider staff.
• Embed therapeutic strategies and Positive Behaviour Support into daily teaching.
