Job summary

Pets at Home Limited's Sutton Coldfield Vets for Pets is seeking an experienced Veterinary Care Assistant on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You will support veterinary surgeons and nursing team with day-to-day care, hospitalised patients, and the smooth running of the practice.

You'll handle clinical and client-facing tasks, welcome clients and their pets, answer calls, book appointments, take payments, restock equipment, and help ensure a friendly, efficient service.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a veterinary practice or animal care setting is desirable.
• You should be compassionate, dependable and able to remain calm and organised in a busy environment.
• You will be the friendly and welcoming face for the client and their pets when they arrive at the practice.
• You will bring enthusiasm and drive to your role, with a passion for service and pets.
• You can handle a busy day, including assisting with reception duties when required.

Responsibilities

• Care for hospitalised patients and assist the nursing team.
• Clean and prepare clinical areas and safely handle animals.
• Restock and maintain equipment.
• Provide practical support to the wider practice team.
• Assist reception with welcoming clients and their pets, answering enquiries, booking appointments and taking payments.
