Job summary

Animal Trust (UK) is seeking a compassionate veterinary receptionist to join our busy practice in Blackburn. You will greet clients and pets, manage appointments and diaries, and handle payments while supporting clinical staff with patient care.

Experience in veterinary reception is preferred. The role involves 40 hours per week with 10-hour shifts between 07:45 and 19:00, including a 1:3 Saturday rota and 5.6 weeks annual leave. A supportive, team-based environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a medical or veterinary reception.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Empathy, understanding and clear communication are essential when interacting with clients.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming clients and their pets for appointments and maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude.
• Answering telephone calls/queries from clients.
• Handling medication prepared by the veterinary surgeon and handing to clients.
• Maintaining reception, waiting area and consultation rooms to a high standard of cleanliness.
• Dealing with stressed or upset clients and connecting them to the appropriate teams.
• Taking payments, registering new clients and addressing client concerns.
• Organising and restocking the practice as required.
• Complying with health and safety procedures and data protection regulations.
