Job summary

Cygnet Long Eaton Day Services is seeking an experienced Support Worker to help people with learning disabilities and complex health needs. You will provide person-centred support, build relationships, and help with activities Monday to Friday.

You will be paid £13.15 per hour, with paid breaks, DBS clearance, full training and induction, and a contributory pension scheme. Experience of at least one year in a similar setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experienced for at least one year in a support setting, ideally with learning disabilities.
• Caring, patient and genuinely interested in the people you support.
• Strong communicator who understands that communication is not always verbal.
• Observant and willing to learn how each person expresses their needs.
• Positive team player who supports colleagues during busy days.
• Flexible and able to adjust when plans change.

Responsibilities

• Get to know each person and understand their individual needs and communication style.
• Provide physical and emotional support with patience, warmth and respect.
• Help people take part in stimulating, varied and enjoyable activities.
• Offer enhanced care through a flexible and individualised approach.
• Support medical and welfare needs in line with training and plans.
• Notice and report changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour.
• Encourage participation and independence wherever possible.
• Support personal care and dietary needs respectfully.
• Safeguard the people in our care.
• Help maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Work closely with colleagues to provide consistent, person-centred support.
