Job summary

Empowering Learning is partnering with a special needs school in Long Eaton to recruit a teaching assistant. The role starts in September and supports the lead teacher with classroom activities, social development and health care plan implementation.

You will assist in educational programs, support students with autism, and help create an inclusive learning environment while promoting positive behaviour and daily task support throughout the academic year.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, including those with special needs.
  • Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy and a positive attitude toward working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities.
  • Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
  • Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
  • Support students in their academic and social development.
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement education health care plans for students.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
