Job summary

Empowering Learning's partner school in Burton upon Trent is seeking a teaching assistant to join a dedicated team from September, supporting students with special needs in classroom and off-site activities.

You will assist the lead teacher with educational programs, help with personal care tasks, and contribute to a nurturing, inclusive learning environment, collaborating with parents and colleagues to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, including those with special needs.
• Knowledge of special education practices and strategies.
• Strong communication with students, parents and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy and a positive attitude in a learning environment.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and handle challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in implementing educational programs and activities.
• Provide support to students with special needs, including those with autism.
• Assist in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Help students with daily tasks, such as personal care and hygiene.
• Support students in academic and social development.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement education health care plans for students.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
• Assist with classroom management and behaviour management strategies.
