Job summary

Avery Healthcare Group is hiring a Sous Chef for Lavender Lodge Care Home in Farnborough, Hampshire. The role focuses on supporting the head chef to deliver nutritionally balanced, high-quality meals within budget for residents.

You will supervise staff, handle modified diets, and ensure adherence to food safety protocols while contributing to a caring, respectful, and collaborative kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services for residents.
• Be adaptable and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced per IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct culinary staff as directed by Head Chef; train unqualified staff.
• Understand safe food handling to meet high hygiene standards in all kitchen activities.
• Support culinary team in fully understanding Avery Food safety management system.
