Job summary

Smile Education are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with complex needs in an Oldbury primary school. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored activities and promote inclusion throughout the day.

The role requires patience, proactive communication, and a calm, nurturing approach, with experience in visual supports, PECS or sign language being highly advantageous. This is a long-term, full-time position.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN and additional needs.
• Ability to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a child with complex needs.
• Familiarity with communication supports like PECS, signing or AAC.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to enable access to the curriculum.
• Support communication and social interaction for the child.
• Implement routines and help develop independence across activities.
