Job summary

New Court Surgery in Swindon is seeking a compassionate Phlebotomist to join our friendly primary care team. You will deliver high-quality blood collection services and support GPs, nurses and admin staff to ensure excellent patient care.

The role requires clear communication, meticulous record-keeping and adherence to infection prevention protocols, with a focus on providing a reassuring experience for anxious patients.

Qualifications

• Experience of undertaking venepuncture in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional when supporting anxious patients.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic IT skills and ability to use clinical systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high-quality phlebotomy service to patients attending the practice.
• Accurately label, handle and dispatch blood samples to the laboratory.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards.
• Support the delivery of high-quality patient care within a busy primary care setting.
• Collaborate with GPs, nurses and administrative staff to ensure smooth service.
