Job summary

Evora Hospice in Newry (ST John’s House) seeks a Health Care Assistant to work in the inpatient unit providing holistic palliative care as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will assist with daily living activities and carry out delegated clinical tasks, contributing to high-quality patient care.

The role requires compassion, confidentiality and strong teamwork, with a commitment to ongoing training and adherence to hospice policies.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent is essential.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience is required.
• A full understanding of confidentiality practices and GDPR.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living as delegated by registered nursing staff.
• Undertake clinical duties such as venepuncture, simple dressings and observations.
• Observe, report and document changes in patients' condition and care needs.
• Maintain hygiene standards and prevent cross infection in the unit.
• Promote Evora Hospice values and participate in team meetings and audits.
