Job summary

Evora Hospice in Newry requires a Specialist Occupational Therapist (Temp-fixed term) to deliver high-quality OT services in the inpatient unit. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with complex palliative needs, including malignant and non-malignant conditions, ensuring holistic support and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy recognised by WFOT/RCOT.
• HCPC registration is mandatory and active.
• RCOT membership or liability insurance details where applicable.
• Minimum 3 years post graduate experience.
• Experience in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with palliative OT in acute or/and community settings.
• Postural management and seating systems experience.
• Assessment of adaptive equipment.
• Excellent communication in person and in writing.
• IT skills for communication, data collection and research.
• Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to teach and liaise with MDT.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work.
• Knowledge of RQIA standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan, establish and deliver OT services across the Hospice.
• Assess physical, psychological, social and functional aspects to improve independence and quality of life.
• Develop and monitor patient-centred treatment and rehabilitation programmes.
• Evaluate outcomes with patients, carers and MDT.
• Provide group or individual OT interventions (e.g., fatigue management).
• Promote creative activities to maximise quality of life.
• Communicate with patients and carers about OT needs.
• Provide training to carers on activities of daily living.
• Collaborate with MDT, attend meetings and contribute to governance.
