Job summary

Overgate Hospice in Calderdale is seeking a Bank Nursing Assistant to join our inpatient unit. The role includes night and weekend shifts and bank holidays, with responsibilities to support MDT and provide compassionate patient care.

NVQ 2/3 in Health & Social Care or willingness to pursue training is essential; you will work across IPU with patients and families, ensuring dignity and high standards of care.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)
• Willingness to participate in education and training provided by the Hospice
• Understanding and sympathetic to hospice philosophy

Responsibilities

• To work with the MDT assisting all members to achieve a high standard of care for patients and their families.
• To develop excellent communication skills that supports patients, families, and the MDT.
• To provide emotional support to patients and families as required whilst passing on all relevant information to the qualified nurse or team coordinator.
• To liaise with other Hospice staff as necessary to maintain the comfort and well‑being of the patient.
• To respect the privacy and the dignity of the patient and family at all times and ensure that the highest possible standards of physical, psychological, and spiritual care are provided.
