You will provide skilled, compassionate nursing care, supporting not only patients but also their families and carers during challenging times.

Our 16-bed Inpatient Unit cares for patients with complex symptoms requiring specialist palliative care interventions, including advanced pain and symptom management, psychosocial support and holistic care. You will also contribute to admissions and discharges, work collaboratively with healthcare professionals across services, and support junior staff and students where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to patients with complex palliative care needs.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care programmes.
  • Support patients and families with compassion, dignity and respect.
  • Coordinate safe admissions and discharges in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional standards.
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Act as a role model for junior staff and students.
  • Contribute to the provision of a safe and supportive care environment.
  • Work flexibly across day and night shifts as required.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • First Level Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible approach to work and changing priorities.
  • Good leadership skills and the ability to use your own initiative.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care aligned with hospice values.
  • Basic IT skills and computer literacy.
  • Experience within a relevant clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of or experience in palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Evidence of further study or willingness to undertake further education in palliative care.

Why Join Our Bank Team?

  • Flexible working to suit your availability.
  • Opportunity to work within a specialist palliative care setting.
  • Supportive multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities.
  • The chance to make a real difference to patients and families at a significant time in their lives.
