Job summary

HC-One Ltd. is seeking a Kitchen Assistant in North Shields to help prepare and serve nutritious meals, supporting residents with dietary needs and delivering care through food.

You will assist with cooking under supervision, maintain kitchen hygiene, and help train new team members, all while upholding safeguarding principles and a caring environment. The role offers training and a variety of benefits, with an hourly rate of £12.95–£13.45 and opportunities for progression within HC-One.

Qualifications

• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and keen eye for detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Excellent communication and respectful interaction with Residents and colleagues.
• Safeguarding training and awareness are required.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored.
• Showing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless after busy shifts.
