Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen, catering, restaurant or care home preferred but training may be provided.
• Understanding of basic food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety; willing to train.
• Caring, patient and respectful approach in a care home.
• Ability to meet residents' nutritional needs and preferences.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to cleanliness.
• Reliable, punctual, flexible and able to follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals in line with menus and standards.
• Support the kitchen team in providing nutritious, balanced meals meeting dietary requirements.
• Assist with preparation of special diets, including modified-texture meals as required.
• Help prepare and serve meals at breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
• Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and storage areas.
• Follow food safety and health and safety procedures at all times.
• Assist with receiving deliveries, checking stock and rotating supplies.
