Job summary

Co-op is recruiting a Funeral Service Crew member for a 6‑month contract in Edinburgh. You will join the funeral service team, collect the deceased with empathy, bear coffins, and operate funeral vehicles, while maintaining equipment and records. Full training provided and several staff benefits are included.

Role requires a full UK driving licence, ability to perform physical tasks, and good IT skills to update client management systems. On-call duties apply.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence is required.
• Ability to perform physical tasks (manual lifting) with training provided.
• Good IT skills and ability to use various devices and learn new apps.
• Ability to respond calmly and empathetically in emotional situations.
• Strong attention to detail to follow regulatory policies.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional, empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins and drive funeral vehicles on the day of the funeral.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, facilities, and vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
