Job summary

Southern Co-op is seeking a Funeral Service Operative to assist in the smooth delivery of funerals, from collection and transport to dressing the deceased and bearing duties. You will also drive our vehicles and help ensure every service runs with care and dignity.

This is a physically and emotionally demanding role that requires a full UK driving licence, flexibility for on-call shifts, and the ability to work as part of a compassionate team. Travel to other sites will be required.

Responsibilities

• Collecting the deceased and bringing them into our care, including challenging locations and circumstances.
• Help dress and prepare the deceased for viewing and place into the coffin or casket.
• Drive our vehicles and ensure they are in pristine condition for each funeral.
• Act as a bearer.
• Support local communities and represent our funeral care services as a trusted ambassador.
• This role will involve manual handling.
