Job summary

Dignity Plc is seeking a Funeral Operations Supervisor to join the Preston Ireland Bowker Funeral Directors team. The role involves coordinating diaries, leading a team of Funeral Service Operatives, and providing on-call support to families during the funeral process.

You will train and mentor staff, stay current with role requirements, and act as the main contact for Level 1 Funeral Service Operatives within your branch. A full UK driving licence is essential and some weekend work is required.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Experience in a Supervisor or Team Lead role.
• Willing to train as a Funeral Plan Consultant and confident in a sales environment.
• Demonstrates empathy, professionalism and composure under pressure.
• Physically capable of manual handling tasks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate diaries and service delivery for funeral operations.
• Oversee training and mentoring of Funeral Service Operatives in your team.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support families.
• Handle the transfer of the deceased into care from various locations.
• Maintain funeral vehicles and equipment to high standards.
• Act as a liaison between the branch and back of house.
• Prepare the deceased in accordance with family wishes and cultural needs.
• Support chapel visits and communications with families with calm professionalism.
