Job summary

Dignity operates across the UK and is seeking a compassionate Funeral Operations Team Leader to oversee teams, coordinate diaries, and support families during one of life's hardest moments. This role is physically active and requires empathy, reliability, and a calm, professional presence.

You will mentor Level 1 and 2 Funeral Service Operatives, manage rotas, and assist with ceremonial duties while upholding dignity and care. A Full UK Driving Licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Team Leader or shift management role.
• Empathy, professionalism and composure under pressure.
• Respectful, caring approach when supporting colleagues and families.
• Physically capable of manual handling tasks and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Support the Care Centre Manager/Service Delivery Lead with diary coordination.
• Oversee training and mentoring of Level 1 and Level 2 Funeral Service Operatives.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones and team meetings; support the Funeral Director.
• Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (nights/weekends) to assist families.
• Carry out back-of-house leadership including service delivery and cost control.
• Prepare the deceased in accordance with family, religious, or cultural wishes.
• Manage rotas and staffing to align overtime and casual staff with business needs.
