Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a Fleet Passenger Assistant to support children and vulnerable adults with safe travel to and from destinations. You will assist with boarding, provide physical support as needed and supervise passengers throughout journeys.

You will follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures, communicate with families, maintain records, and complete required training for safe transport. DBS enhanced disclosure will be required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children.
• Experience of working with vulnerable adults.
• Experience of working with people with special needs including physical, learning and behavioural difficulties.
• Experience of dealing with difficult situations, such as behaviour issues and people with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

• Help passengers board and alight the vehicle safely.
• Provide physical support where required and supervise throughout the journey.
• Follow transport, health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
• Communicate with families and carers and maintain records.
• Undertake training to support safe transportation of children and vulnerable adults.
