Job summary

NHS Jobs is recruiting a Band 3 Assistant Continence Practitioner to support the Bladder & Bowel Care Service across clinical settings. You will undertake continence assessments, perform procedures, and contribute to care planning and patient education.

The role involves following up patients, escalating changes as needed, and collaborating with nurses, physiotherapists, and other professionals to deliver high-quality continence care.

Qualifications

• Continence nursing skills and compassionate patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and professionals.
• Experience supporting education and training within clinical settings.

Responsibilities

• Undertake continence assessments for new patients referred to the Bladder & Bowel Care Service.
• Perform clinical procedures such as bladder scanning and fitting external urinary sheaths.
• Follow up patients on care pathways, monitor progress and update care plans.
• Escalate changes in patients' conditions to the responsible nurse or physiotherapist.
• Provide continence advice and support to patients, carers, relatives, and other healthcare professionals.
• Plan and deliver care within own level of competence and contribute to audits and service improvements.
