Job summary

NELFT is recruiting a Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurse Band 6 to lead continence care across diverse settings, including base, care homes and patients’ homes. The post emphasises senior clinical duties, teaching and supervision of junior staff.

You will work under guidance to deliver patient-centred plans, promote evidence-based practice, and collaborate with a wide network of health professionals within the Trust’s continence services.

Responsibilities

• Assess adults with continence issues or bladder/bowel dysfunction.
• Ensure robust, individualized care plans agreed with patients and carers.
• Manage a caseload of adults needing continence nursing care.
• Work in nurse-led clinics and patients' homes; accept referrals.
• Plan and implement care programmes for continence management.
• Provide counselling and psychological support as appropriate.
• Apply evidence-based changes to improve care and outcomes.
• Refer to other professionals for further investigations or treatment.
• Support other professionals in care planning.
• Build positive relationships with other healthcare teams.
• Assist development of the Continence Advisory Service per policy and NICE guidance.
• Help meet performance targets and respond to commissioning requirements.
• Maintain high standards of care and robust documentation.
• Organise daily activities and set priorities for self and juniors.
• Attend MDT meetings and maintain professional governance.
• Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
