Job summary

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust seeks Healthcare Assistants for its Birmingham Hospice to deliver holistic care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Join a supportive team providing tailored care plans and engaging activities in a welcoming environment.

Qualifications

• Care Certificate or willing to work towards.
• Experience working with children with complex health needs.
• Ability to provide care sensitively considering culture, beliefs and wishes.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the registered nurse to provide care in a variety of settings.
• Provide personalised care to children, young people and families as per the child’s holistic care plan and escalate changes to the registered nurse.
• Empower children and families to make informed decisions about their care and exercise choice.
• Engage children and families in activities and play, indoors and outdoors, including linking with local community facilities.
• Meet the child’s psychological, social and physical care needs.

Education

Care Certificate or willing to work towards

Previous experience of working with children with complex health needs

Ability to provide care sensitively, taking into account culture, beliefs and wishes

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults
