Job summary

Acorns Children’s Hospice Trust is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for our Birmingham Hospice to deliver holistic care to babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. You will work under the direction of a registered nurse and tailor care to each child’s needs, while supporting families and encouraging participation in activities.

The role requires Care Certificate or commitment to achieving it, prior experience with complex health needs, and safeguarding knowledge.

Qualifications

• Care Certificate or willingness to work towards it.
• Experience caring for children with complex health needs.
• Ability to provide sensitive care considering culture and wishes.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Support the registered nurse to provide care in various settings.
• Deliver personalised care to children, young people and families per care plans and escalate changes.
• Empower families to participate in care decisions and choices.
• Encourage engagement in activities and social interaction indoors and outdoors.
• Support psychological and social needs alongside physical care.
