Responsibilities

• 1. Ensure the highest levels of care by assisting with washing, toileting, dressing and daily living. (care duties)
• 2. Assist with physical, emotional and spiritual care; maintain comfort and dignity.
• 3. Aid those with limited mobility; use aids appropriately.
• 4. Monitor residents who may be confused or have behavioural issues.
• 5. Promote continence and assist in continence care.
• 6. Support in care for those with progressive illness or nearing end of life; assist with last offices.
• 7. Observe care planning needs and complete written daily records per policies.
• 8. Encourage participation in social activities and hobbies within the home.
• 9. Respond to Nursecall, door and telephone inquiries; pass messages promptly.
• 10. Report well-being to senior staff.
• 11. Carry out regular checks as directed by senior staff.
• 12. Welcome visitors and provide refreshments/assistance.
• 13. Make and change beds; keep rooms clean and waste disposed per policy.
• 14. Clean and maintain equipment such as wheelchairs and hearing aids.
• 15. Care for clothing/rooms; record and label clothes.
• 16. Maintain privacy and dignity for the dying and bereaved.
• 17. Assist during meal times; consider dietary needs; set/clear tables.
• 18. Escort residents to outings or appointments.
• 19. Respect residents’ personal and financial information.
• 20. Assist with rearranging bedrooms and safe moving techniques.
• 21. Participate in staff and client meetings.
• 22. Maintain professional knowledge and competence.
• 23. Attend mandatory training days/courses.
• 24. Undertake relevant NVQ training to achieve qualifications.
• 25. Report illnesses or accidents to Home Manager.
• 26. Follow health and safety and emergency procedures.
• 27. Report faulty appliances or hazards to Home Manager/Handyperson.
• 28. Promote safe working practices within the home.
• 29. Promote good reputation of the Care Home.
• 30. Keep confidential information secure.
• 31. Notify absence in advance and on return to duty.
• 32. Ensure security of the Care Home.
• 33. Adhere to company policies and procedures within timescales.
• 34. Ensure equipment is clean and well maintained.
• 35. Carry out any other tasks as reasonably assigned.
