Job summary

Recruitment Opportunities in Luton is seeking a Driver Assistant to support the safe transport of children, young people and adults. The role requires a D1 licence and independent driving assessment, with a 32.5-hour week and a permanent contract.

You will perform daily vehicle checks, communicate with service users and colleagues, and respond calmly to delays or breakdowns to ensure a safe and inclusive service.

Qualifications

• Must have full current D1 driving licence.
• Must have successful independent driving assessment.
• Applicants must be aged 23 or over for insurance purposes.
• Willingness to undertake safeguarding, first aid, autism awareness, dementia awareness, MiDAS and PATS training.

Responsibilities

• Support safe transportation of children, young people and adults.
• Ensure passengers travel safely and comfortably; communicate effectively with service users, families and colleagues.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and follow traffic regulations.
• Provide an inclusive, respectful service and respond calmly to delays or breakdowns.
